My Material Life

Almost Like Being in England

On Tuesday, a few of us kindergarten moms took our own field trip up to the Filoli estate in Woodside. The misty (you might even call it rainy) weather, gardens, and house all made it feel like we’d been transported to England. It was a wonderful get-away and we easily made it back in time to pick up the kids thanks to full-school-day kindergarten in our district. Filoli has a nice cafe with a lovely patio (though we ate inside due to the weather) and even a shop where you can buy plants, gifts, etc. I didn’t take the “good” camera with me, so I didn’t manage any decent interior shots, but the gardens are really the star here anyway. One tip – try to visit on a Tuesday. New flower arrangements go in on Tuesday and there is a gentleman who plays piano in the ballroom that day as well. Yes, ballroom. And it’s gorgeous.
